Southwest Airlines sought to express their gratitude to their Rapid Reward members in a distinctive manner. We collaborated with data visualization artist Joshua Davis to create personalized art pieces by utilizing each member's flight data from that year. These creations were presented to members through an interactive story, where each flight's path was depicted in the 3D artwork as if drawn with a brush stroke. Various parameters, such as wind speed and trip temperature, influenced the placement and style of each stroke. At the end of the story, members could continue to explored their piece of art or download it.
Wind speed and trip temperature dictated the brush type and position, while date and time influenced the colors of each stroke. These colors were drawn from a spectrum derived from Southwest Airlines' brand palette. Stroke size was determined by the volume of flights, ensuring each member received a captivating and harmonious work of art.
The completed artwork could be shared with the world or downloaded as wallpaper for both mobile devices and desktops. Additionally, there was the option to receive a high-resolution version suitable for professional printing and framing.
